PETIOLE TESTING - NOW IS THE TIME

Petiole testing can provide a snapshot of the nutrient status of the vine. Obtaining quantitative information on nutrient levels can assist in determining the effectiveness of fertiliser applications and also help identify the cause of any specific vine problems.

Turnaround time 5-7 working days.

SOIL PRI - NOW IS THE TIME

What is Phosphorous Retention Index?

Phosphorous Retention Index (PRI) gives a direct measure of the phosphorus sorption capacity in soil.  Phosphorous is not chemically stable in the water soluble form in the presence of soil.  The absorption of phosphorous into the soil particles results in less phosphorus being available for plants.  Conversely, soil that is unable to adsorb phosphorus may lose phosphate due to leaching in high rainfall areas.

The results of the PRI test can therefore assist in making better nutrient management decisions.

Turnaround time 5-7 working days (Available in select Winechek laboratories - please talk to your laboratory supervisor today about getting this tested)

Tips and tricks

GENERAL WINERY/LAB/BOTTLING LINE HYGIENE
Is your bottling line clean?

Are you unsure about the sanitation on your bottling line, in your winery or brewery or in your laboratory?

Microbial load can build up anywhere in the process but becomes of a critical nature at certain points in the process.

Bottling lines are the final check point for any beverage and making sure that there is a low microbial load is key to ensuring long term micro stability.

What can I do?

  • Pick up some swabs from your local Winechek laboratory. They will be able to culture these and identify any areas of high microbial load.
  • Talk to your Winechek laboratory supervisor or manager to understand more about what steps you can take to minimise spoilage.
